I recently traveled to India and was struck by the countries rich colors, scents, food and people. One young girl I met in Goa will forever be etched in my memory. She was about seven years old and she was the best salesperson I had ever met. She attempted to sell me a pair of shoes from her road side shop. She did so without any help from her brother or parents who were sitting behind the store. When I quoted a price too low she was quick to tell me it was "below her cost basis" when I threated to walk away she said please let's make a sale give me your "best price." I couldn't believe she was so young yet so good at all the fundamentals of sales and negotiation. These are skills that I learned only after paying a hefty price for a MBA at a top-tier university. It was at that moment that I realized how powerful women are and how much lost potential there is in a world where women are deprived of their human right to seek out their full potential, their dreams and define their lives. I commit to using my influence, position and education to allow more women around the globe to have the same options I have had growing up in the states to define their own destiny and to reach their full potential.
