Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

The UN has established eight development goals for 2015 to address the persistent problem of global poverty. 

International Center for Research on Women

ICRW is a research and advocacy organization dedicated to promoting “a world free of poverty in which women and men, girls and boys have equal opportunities to achieve their potential and realize their rights.”

    The online library on the ICRW website includes links to statistics, journals, databases, and reports from a variety of sources.
  • Girls Count!
    A report by ICRW that discusses the importance of placing girls at the center of development projects, and the methods for making it happen.

InterAction

InterAction is the largest coalition of U.S.-based international NGOs, with more than 165 members working in every developing country to expand opportunities and support gender equality in education, health care, agriculture, and small business.

Women Thrive Worldwide

Women Thrive Worldwide is the world’s premier women’s advocacy organization, comprising 50 organizations that advocate for national and international policies which foster economic opportunity for women living in poverty.

Gender Equality Architecture Reform (GEAR) Campaign

Women’s Environment and Development Organization and the Center for Women’s Global Leadership are spearheading advocacy efforts towards a new gender architecture for the UN. The GEAR Campaign calls for the creation of a well-resourced, women-specific independent entity parallel to the United Nations Development Program and UNICEF.
